The rugged beauty of Scotland and the Highlands or the serenity of Scotland's Islands, whichever you prefer, the area around Loch Nan Uamh on the road to Mallaig gives you the opportunity to enjoy both. This area is filled with spectacular scenery, a wealth of history and magnificent mountains, all of which make it a mecca for the Landscape Photographer. Bring your camera and you will go home with many wonderful photographs of Scotland, If you enjoy studying the history of Scotland, this is as good a place as any to start.
"I shall come to Scotland next year even if only with a single footman." Prince Charles Edward Stuart speaking to John Murray in Paris, August 1744. A year later he made good his word and landed at Loch Nan Uamh in Moidart on the west coast of Scotland. At his side, not the footman, but the legendary "Seven Men Of Moidart." Bonnie Prince Charlie moved on to nearby Glenfinnan where on the 19th of August 1745 the royal standard was raised and so began the '45.

Fort William at the foot of Britain's highest mountain Ben Nevis provides a base from which to tour the area by car, train or foot.
Sit back and enjoy the delights of the Jacobite Steam Train on its journey between Fort William and Mallaig. The scenery is stunning with views across the sea to Eigg and Rum.

Charles returned to Loch Nan Uamh not in triumph but defeat. On the 19th September 1746 he fled the shores of Scotland for France.
