Scottish Nature Photography, the magnificent Scottish
Stag, my Monarch of the Glen. Now the he's off the road
and back in his natural habitat and providing me with
one of my favourite images of Scotland. It's very seldom
that luck plays a part in Scottish nature photography
normally it entails planning and hours of patience.
(The story continued from the previous photograph)
I followed him slowly along the road and he jumped over
the fence back into home territory. I stopped the car
to admire him and if I am honest, to thank him. He stared
at me from the golden grasses of the moor, which were
being painted by shafts of light, leaving Quinag dark
and brooding in the background. I could'nt resist it the
truce was over, the camera and tripod back out.
I used the biggest lens I had to try and jam him against
the hillside. Things were going well this morning, so
just pick your background and with patience this guy will
walk into the foreground just where you want him. He did
and this is the result.
