"Oh
the auld hoose,the auld hoose,
What tho' the rooms were wee,
Oh kind hearts were dwelling there, And bairnies fu'
o' glee."
Lady Nairne
Songwriter

I must say I enjoy this image of the derelict cottage.
Lots of teachers and college lecturers will insist that
you never have the subject in the centre of your photograph
or painting, you must allways have it placed in one of
the thirds. Well when you know the rules you then know
how to break them as I have done in this picture. The
lonliness of the croft is accentuated by the space I have
left surrounding it. The sky is not what I had hoped for,
I was wanting a black stormy sky for this shot, just as
it was when I left my holiday cottage first thing in the
morning, but by the time I reached my destination the
weather had changed and there was nothing but clear blue
sky above. However I liked this building it had a nice
face and although derelict it was welcoming, so I waited
for cloud to appear. I hope you enjoy the result.
