A photograph capturing dawn over Achray Forest in the
heart of the Trossachs Scotland. The photograph shows
the mist still hanging in the lower parts of the forest,
as the first light casts a golden glow over the scene
north of Aberfoyle. The islands of trees stretching skyward
from the mists, give a fairytale feel to the photograph.
Achray Forest and Loch Achray lie deep in the heart of
the Trossachs near the towns of Aberfoyle and Callander.
No matter which time of the year you visit you will be
enthralled with the scenery and warm welcome you receive.
Be sure to visit Bonnie Strathyre, and Balquhidder where
you will find the grave of 'Rob Roy MacGregor.
A favourite village of mine is nearby Gartmore but watch
out here for Big Jim,Wee Davie, Graeme O' The Rigs and
Alistair O' The Nails and various other unsavoury characters
whom you are liable to meet in the local. The local is
the Black Bull Hotel which serves good food and provides
a warm Scottish welcome for visitors.
A few miles from this spot is Loch Katrine the setting
for 'The Lady Of The Lake' by Sir Walter Scott and today
you can enjoy a sail up the loch on the ship which bears
his name.
